Three times a year, the hilly, tree-scattered pastures that surround Renninger’s Flea Market and Antique Center are populated by a wild overspill of vintage dealers from around the country. Pouring throughout the stalls and tables like ants on honey and poring over spool beds, antler lamps, jewelry, quilts, militariana, leatherbound books and other prized ephemera are packs of visitors (who, like the dealers, also hail from all across the country). Renninger’s is always worth a weekend visit, but these thrice-yearly extravaganzas are when you’re more likely to find trendier stuff – think genuine mid-century rather than reproduction Victorian. The most esoteric finds go first thing Friday morning, but those with icewater in their veins wait until Sunday afternoon, when vendors would rather cut prices than re-pack their wares. So do you feel lucky, punk? – Jessica Bryce Young
