Crafty bastards of all stripes – artists, artisans, jewelry makers, crafters, vintage-clothing and furniture upcyclers – from all over will truck their wares into the Maitland Civic Center for this daylong event. We counted 85 vendors on the Big Bang Bazaar website, including some local faves (Sea of Bees jewelry, Junk 2 Funk furniture) as well as people we’ve never heard of but can’t wait to give money to, in exchange for cool, handmade stuff we’ve fallen in love with over the interwebs (Kindle and iPad covers from The2SistersShoppe from Tampa, watercolor art and illustrations from Paper Sparrow out of New York, vintage tin toys from Allison Kapner Originals). If you’re feeling the money just burning a hole in your pocket this weekend, resist the urge to spend it on more crap made in China that you don’t really need – spend it, instead, with an indie artist/maker who’ll sell you something that (admittedly) you still probably won’t need but you’re definitely going to love. – Erin Sullivan
