Up the Ground

It's interesting the way South American cultures come together in the City Beautiful, and Up the Ground is a prime example of this slightly hard-to-understand phenomenon. It's Colombian-owned, tucked inside of a Brazilian-stocked strip mall, with a Guyanese clientele that runs toward 20-somethings. The music drifts between soca, bhangra, dancehall, reggaeton and chutney mixed by various DJ's. It's a rare venue, where East meets West with all the comforts of the Global South.
