Review - Big Johns

Artist: Jennyanykind

Chapel Hill, N.C.'s Jennyanykind has made it through the major-label machine without receiving critical injuries. After a ride on the Elektra train, the band went back to the basement to craft 13 tracks of Southern rock and blues sifted through a mellow jam, all with a folky aftertaste.

With underlying themes of love dominating the songwriting, frontman Michael Holland has managed to maintain his penchant for honest lyrics and mellow, upbeat musings -- best captured on "Bury My Body," "Even When It Hurts," "You Are Tied to Me" and "Honest Man."
