Band of the Week: Spoon Dogs

Welcome to Orlando Weekly's "Band of the Week." Every week, we highlight one of our favorite local bands. This week, we're pleased to bring you Spoon Dogs.

Spoon Dogs are playing Will's Pub on March 25 with Golden Pelicans and Thelma & the Sleaze, and April 3 at Stardust with Emily Reo and Batry Powr.

Just the facts:

When did the band form?
We formed at the end of 2017.

Who's in the band?
Sam and Dan play guitar. Christian plays the skins and every once in a while he’ll drum too. We have another Sam, he plays bass. Everybody sings when they’re not getting shocked by mics.

Describe your sound in five words:
How much do we owe?

Five questions:

What has been your most memorable show so far?
We seem to have a problem with our equipment blowing up on us, so probably one of the shows were we finish the set.

Which local band is your favorite one to play a show with?
There’s several bands we really dig. The Woolly Bushmen, because we like to watch Simon dive on top of his Farfisa. Red Rodeo’s great too, they have a lot of energy and their music slaps. And if St. Pete’s local enough, then definitely Fever Beam. Those shows feel like you’re hanging with the cool kids.

What description gets used for your band that you would most
like to correct people on? Why?
There’s not much we want to correct. We’re just happy you’re talking about us.

What’s your favorite thing about being an Orlando band? What's your least favorite? Why?
We like how eclectic the music scene is, but Latin food’s expensive here.

Any big news to share?
We’ve got a single being pressed, and we’re throwing a big party at Stardust when it comes out. [NOTE: The single release party is scheduled for May 3 at Stardust with Fever Beam and Red Rodeo.] We’re saving up our nickels and dimes for a summer tour.
