Studebaker Hawk releases free Christmas album on Christmas Day

Christmas albums are a weird and wonderful thing, and this year, local indie rockers Studebaker Hawk put one out that is ... well, at the very least, it fits the "weird" part. The band released Studachristmas Wonderhawk Dead Sun Danceathon for free via Bandcamp  on Christmas Day. You know, the very last possible minute that anyone would possibly be interested in a Christmas album (and when local music bloggers – and the rest of the world – are trying diligently to not pay attention to anything). Fortunately, tracks like "Heretic Hambone Avenger " and "The Heliofrugification" are pretty far removed from your standard holiday fare and help balance out the album's self-consciously goofy takes on Christmas tunes ("12 Gays of Christmas," "Falice Navidad" [sic]).

The album's a free download, so if you're super-slack and are just now getting around to celebrating the holidays (or if you just want to check out the band), you can grab it on the Bandcamp page the band's set up for it.
