Girl-group revisionist band Beach Day, surf band Thee Wilt Chamberlain, garage-rock band Girls on the Beach and all-girl band Wet Nurse – hmm, we’re sensing a motif or two in here somewhere for this show. Besides being probably the most thoroughly themed bill ever, this lineup is an all-star knockout with zero filler. But headlining South Florida breakout Beach Day, in particular, is the prime-time deal. Neither Dum Dum Girls nor Cults have the raw potential or star singing power this young trio has. When they played here last summer, the news of their signing to distinguished Brooklyn imprint (with Orlando ties) Kanine Records was so fresh that it came to us verbally from the label boss, who was there to see them – the press release wasn’t even out yet. Now, they return with thousands more miles of road experience ramping up to the big June release of their debut LP (Trip Trap Attack). Come see ’em again before they’re huge. – Bao Le-Huu
