Market on South to open in the Milk District, Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen opens in College Park, plus more

Market on South, a collective of shops, eateries and, yes, a market will open in the Milk District. Their Instagram feed, @marketonsouth, promises Dixie Dharma food truck will have a space, as will Valhalla Bakery and Humble Bumble Kombucha. Look for a bar and café too.

I had a chance to preview some of the dishes that will be offered during the 23rd annual United Way Chef's Gala, all of which were top-notch (see pictures at orlandoweekly.com). The gala, United Way's largest fundraiser, is May 16. More info at hfuw.org.

It's still early, but it appears as though Julie Casey's Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen will be a welcome addition to the College Park dining scene. The menu is chock-full of contempo-comfort fare, but chef Richard Felshaw hopes to introduce some more interesting items (offal!) in the coming months.

I still lament the loss of Wa Restaurant, the way-cool sushi joint on Turkey Lake Road that closed before its time. Now we find Taboon Bistro, an upscale Middle Eastern restaurant, in that same way-cool space. Also on Turkey Lake Road, Graffiti Junktion has opened in the Bay Hill Plaza.

TR Fire Grill unrolls a Sunday brunch menu beginning March 22, offering upscaled brekkie dishes like lemon ricotta pancakes with jalapeño chicken sausage; "morning meatloaf," featuring green chile sauce, sunny-side-up eggs, and jalapeño hollandaise; and bloody mary and mimosa samplers.
