Orlando Eye gets a name change to 'The Wheel' and a new food hall

The 400-foot observation wheel formerly known as the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye is getting a name change to just "The Wheel."

The area containing The Wheel, Madame Tussauds Orlando, SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium and dozens of restaurants on International Drive is also rebranding itself as ICON Park, according to a press release.

"In a 20-acre walkable footprint, we have more than 40 restaurants, bars, shops and attractions, all situated around a wonderful central lawn," says Chris Jaskiewicz, CEO of ICON Orlando 360, in a statement. "We're the perfect place to eat, drink and have fun in a really relaxed environment."

The entertainment complex is also welcoming a new food hall near the ticket queues called "Wheelhouse Market," which is currently in the soft opening phase, the release says. The Wheelhouse Market will offer "authentically prepared, globally inspired foods," such as like andouille sausage; bangers and mash; giant Bavarian pretzels; acai bowls; made-to-order pizza and pasta; Latin-inspired food; and craft beer selections.

ICON Park is also getting two new restaurants. Ox Grill will offer "contemporary cuisine with steaks, pastas and a selection of international dishes," while Mikado will serve up a "revolving sushi and hot pot concept," according to the release.

"Our focus is on creating new, unique experiences that will make ICON Park even more enjoyable for first-time and returning guests," Jaskiewicz says.
