Orlando Commissioner Patty Sheehan is running for re-election to the City Council seat representing District 4.

Sheehan was first elected to the Orlando City Council in 2000 and has since been re-elected four times. She's Orlando's first openly gay commissioner and was a leading force for the community during the 2016 mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse.

Sheehan announced her campaign on Facebook, saying, "I am pleased to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Orlando City Council."

District 4 includes parts of downtown Orlando, as well as neighborhoods that include Colonialtown, Delaney Park, Dover Shores, Lake Cherokee, Lake Eola Heights, Ferncreek, Thornton Park and Wadeview Park.

Sheehan is currently the only one registered to run in District 4. The election is scheduled for Nov. 5, 2019.
