XL106.7 Concert Series: AJR and Meghan Trainor
It’s all about that bass tonight with our favorite plus-size advocate and honorary fag hag, Meghan Trainor. The Nantucket native co-wrote “All About That Bass” with Kevin Kadish with the idea of selling it to someone else. Thankfully, when record exec L.A. Reid heard the demo he signed her to his label, and the rest is gay-anthem history. Sharing the stage with her are the dubby-lite stylings of AJR (best known as the fresh-faced boy band openers for such acts as Demi Lovato, Lindsey Stirling and the Vamps). Their barber-pop songs may sound a little too junior for a Pride event but we’ll give them the benefit. There’s a meet and greet package available too, if you need to get up close, but there are only 40 tickets available.

Lykke Li Out in Concert
In a surprising turn for COWP, this Swedish songstress is more angsty indie than pop, and is neither a cute young boy band nor a big-booty shaker. Instead, we’ve got an artist that is a little reminiscent of an early career Cyndi Lauper sprinkled with Shangri-La retro-sugar. Your ticket gets you into the pre-party at Southern Nights (formerly R-Barr, formerly Revolution, formerly Southern Nights before that even) and includes a party bus trip to and from House of Blues for the concert.

COWP Opening Ceremony
Following silent and live auctions, there will be a ribbon-cutting and time-capsule ceremony with Mayor Buddy Dyer and Commissioner Patty Sheehan, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony. So much ceremony! But the highlight of the night will undoubtedly be headliners Capital Cities and the gay twins from down under, Bec and Sebastian, as seen on The Voice Australia Season 2 – not to be confused with the gay siblings from up north, Tegan and Sarah. With upbeat synth-anthems from Capital Cities like “Kangaroo Court” and “Safe and Sound,” the party will totes be bopping through the night. The concert starts at 10 p.m.

Pride at Halloween Horror Nights 24
Halloween Horror Nights is always good for a scream, but this time you can let it all out, girl, and nobody will make fun of you. Well … within reason. The $58 tickets include early park admission and a bag of loot (string bag, drink ticket and a glow-in-the-dark T-shirt), but the $43 one doesn’t, so be sure to weigh that $15 difference when considering the long lines. The houses this year are hella scary, but the star of the night is the Bill and Ted show. The dancers are all super hot and barely dressed. Try to get as close to the front as possible, y’all; these people are here to werk it, and boy do they!

Come Out With Pride Block Party at Lake Ivanhoe
Pride has moved its block party this year from downtown to the oh-so-neighborly Ivanhoe Village. With plenty of bars within walking distance and tons of restaurants and shops (including some of the best antiquing in the area), the Ivanhood seems like a prime location for a Pride party. There’s also a beach volleyball court and plenty of lakefront lounging if you get tired of the bar scene. Worried about your hair getting all mussed up? Hop into Copperhead Salon (directly above the Lamb) for a quick zhoosh and you’re good to go! Pride!

The Zebra Run
The annual Pride 5K is back, and this year proceeds will benefit the Zebra Coalition, which provides support programs for LGBT+ youth in Central Florida. There will be “eccentric and zany” entertainment along the route and a post-race party at the end.

Pride Festival
Stroll around Lake Eola and peruse the more than 150 vendors and organizations displaying their products and services at this massive fest. There’s a Family and Fun Zone with zip lines and bouncy houses, cash bars and food vendors, and Orlando City Soccer players peppered throughout, too. The International Bridge will be converted into Club H2O with bar specials, DJs and a special lounge area post-parade.

Say what you will about the Queen Bee’s big attitude and crass lyrics, but she’s earned her cred: She came up under the tutelage of Notorious B.I.G. as part of the Junior M.A.F.I.A., she’s one of only two female MCs who’ve had three albums go platinum, and she … oh, who are we kidding? Yes, Lil’ Kim has cred, but we love both her big attitude and her crass lyrics, and we can’t wait to hear her rapping about “Haterz” and demanding that somebody in the damn crowd answer the question, “How many licks does it take to get to the center of the …” Long live the Queen.

British Invasion: God Save the Queens
OK, get this: British pop and classical music performed by the Orlando Gay Chorus, the Central Florida Sounds of Freedom Band and the Color Guard. Gayest thing ever? Yes. The concert will cover hundreds of years of British composition, from classical to rock to contemporary pop. The all-women ensemble Nothing but Treble and performers from Harwood Dance Studio will also take the stage. The only thing that could make this more exciting is a group of Spice Girl-inspired drag queens serving bangers and mash. But we’re not greedy.

Little Miss Parliament House
In an apparent bid to take over Come Out With Pride, Jeff Jones will be bringing back his twisted Toddlers and Tiaras parody, Little Miss Parliament House. Starring P-house favorites Doug Ba’aser, Janine Klein, April Fresh, Douglas White, Addison Taylor and Divine Grace as the hopeful beauty queens and their rabid mothers, this show will most likely make you spit out your vodka sodas, so be sure to drink carefully. The show sold out at the Orlando Fringe Festival and during an extended run at Parliament’s Footlight Theater, so don’t be surprised if it sells out fast.
