Some of the best oddball events that take place in this town happen in the Audubon Park Garden District, and the neighborhood’s annual Bastille Day celebration is probably our favorite. Marie Antoinette shows up to sign autographs, you can fence with baguettes at the French street celebration, and you can shop at an indoor French market full of cool local goods at Redlight Redlight – and you can experience all of that without paying an entry fee. Then there are the ticketed events, which up the ante and kind of make us hungry just thinking about them. There’s a crepe breakfast at East End Market ($20), a wine and cheese tasting presented by La Femme du Fromage ($30) and a special edition of the Dinner Party Project that’ll take place at P Is for Pie Bake Shop (no price announced yet). The event is a fundraiser for the Audubon Park Garden District, which has worked tirelessly to turn this ’hood into one of Orlando’s coolest places to live and hang out. If you support what they’ve built here, don’t cheap out. Buy a ticket to one of the events and help them keep that croquet ball rolling.
