But what will this new visibility do for Wolf Eyes, who, on their inaugural Sub Pop release, are unapologetically dishing out their grizzled, lacerated take on the finest of industrial music? Burned Mind further charts the territory this group began exploring in 1997: the Throbbing Gristle-inspired "Rattlesnake Shake" and the atavistic "Stabbed in the Face" both expertly dissect narrower channels of psychosis, but fail to liberate themselves from a one-dimensional fixation with sonic terror. And though that's just fine with some of us, you've got to wonder what – if anything – the kids will think.
