Two awesome Halloween block parties attract spirited showgoers

Thornton Park and Mills 50 are so close that you don't even really have to choose if you're looking to maximize your Halloween - which lands on a Friday this year, help us all - and don't want to go downtown to do it. Both neighborhoods, which feature preferred haunts any day of the year like the Falcon, Will's Pub, Peacock Room, Burton's, etc., are pulling out all the stops to attract costumed concertgoers to their parties with shockingly cool music offerings.

At the 2nd Annual Thornton Park Halloween Block Party, sponsored by Spooky Empire, the Legendary JC's shake things up with their scary-good sounds in Orlando's "most haunted district" while a Dark Arts market fills the streets. Plus, there's a costume contest with a $500 grand prize. If things get too out of control, just ask the JC's to save you from yourself. (RSVP)

In typical style of concert promoter Dave Plotkin, the commemorative tickets to Pulp Fiction Live are pretty badass.

Over in Mills 50, Pulp Fiction Live (which we featured in this year's Fall Guide) sprawls over Will's Pub, Lil Indies and Uncle Lou's, which will surely create an impromptu block party on that stretch of Mills Avenue between the bars as folks dressed as Tarantino's iconic characters - if you dress up in Pulp Fiction style, you get a free drink; dress as Gimp, and you get three free drinks - mingle between two showtimes. At 9 p.m. and then again at 11 p.m., various local musicians (Maximino, Plush Monsters, Thee Wilt Chamberlain) will perform the entire soundtrack. (RSVP)
