Sonoma Kitchen bought by RusTeak, now called The Stubborn Mule

The space in Thornton Park formerly known as Sonoma Kitchen has been purchased by Jonathan Canonaco, owner of College Park gastro-bistro RusTeak.

The new moniker: The Stubborn Mule, which we deem appropriate, considering the spaces in that block have been notoriously difficult to settle into for restaurateurs.

As the name would suggest, the craft cocktail menu will focus largely on Moscow Mule variants, and will offer a $5 Mule each day. Today's concoction is comprised of cucumber, strawberry, black cherry vodka and ginger beer. Yum.

Hours are the same as Sonoma Kitchen's, and the spot is currently in their soft opening phase with a new menu, which includes a scrumptious-sounding watermelon salad with sesame-crusted seared ahi tuna, a center-cut filet with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed wild mushrooms, and, of course, a $14 burger.

According to Canonaco, they're aiming for a Sept. 1 opening date, just in time to celebrate Labor Day weekend with a walk around the park and dinner at these new digs.
