This morning, Orlando food blogger TastyChomps reported that Bananas Modern American Diner would close after four years of serving Orlando comfort food with a bit of 'tude. That means no more chicken and waffles. No more garbage plate. No more Sunday gospel brunch (well, sort of; see below). No more milkshakes. No more meal-ending cotton candy. If you want any of your Bananas favorites, you'll need to hustle over there soon, because, after Mother's Day, the restaurant is closing its doors.
FMI Restaurant Group plans to replace their diner concept with a new spot called Mills Brewpub. The restaurant promises a weekday-ly happy hour from 5-7 p.m and pub fare ranging from burgers to Belgian fries. It's expected to open in July.
* FMI also announced the Gospel Brunch will pop back up at Funky Monkey Pointe Orlando. So it's not completely gone, just moving.
