They don’t call them Ragin’ Cajuns for nothing: Although not all of Louisiana’s natives resemble Swamp People, those born on the bayou (including this writer) are a spicy bunch, and they know a thing or two about letting the good times roll. So it’s no surprise that locally we’d dedicate an entire day to the Cajuns’ grub of choice – boiled crawfish. Some would say there’s an art to eating mudbugs, which arrive by the thousands of pounds (3,000 to be exact) at downtown Orlando’s outdoor Heritage Square this weekend ($5 for a boat of crawfish, with corn and potatoes; vegetarian options also available). But one thing’s for sure: It ain’t pretty. And when you throw in live skateboarding demos, onstage noise by the Whitey Tighties, the Crazy Carls and the Burnin Smyrnans, and an unlimited flow of draft beer, it’ll make for a full-blown coonass get down. Really wanna act like a Cajun? Go ahead and suck dem heads. – Aimee Vitek
