If you haven't made it to the Mennello Museum for their current exhibition,
Standing in the Spirit: Selections of Folk Art by Southern Women, tonight's gallery talk should tempt you.
Winter Park folk art collector CJ Williams loaned several pieces to the show, and tonight he'll discuss the artists and stories behind the works. Williams originally gave a version of this talk to the museum's docents, but they decided to repeat it and open it up to the public, so it's sure to be informative on the folk art tradition.
Encompassing a variety of media, from traditional painting and sculpture to textiles and found-object sculpture, this exhibition teams three curators: Jeanine Taylor of Jeanine Taylor Folk Art gallery in Sanford; Frank Holt, executive director of the Mennello Museum; and Genevieve Bernard, curator of education for the Mennello Museum.
