Through April 15Artful Strings – Four Centuries of Harp Making

Sure, it’s easy to sit back, glass of wine in hand, and take pleasure in the pretty sounds that spring from the harp. But if you’re like us, you jump at the chance to look behind the music – sans that cheesy intro song on VH1, of course. The Polasek Museum’s latest installation pulls the harp, commonly branded as an accompaniment instrument, to center stage for its very own three-month solo show. We’re talking more than 50 harps from Orlando’s International Harp Museum, a deconstructed harp display showing the instrument’s inner workings and a live concert series – classical and jazz tunes played on historical instruments – throughout the run of the show. Prepare your ears and fingers for this one. – Aimee Vitek
