So there we were, licking our morning wounds as usual, balled up in the chalkboard nails of morning television white-noise, when it quickly came to our attention that we had in fact been transported! The realization was not helped by the standard second-hour Today Show boilerplate of skincare for children and "how much caffeine is too much caffeine?" segments, but once we saw an Eyewitness News logo for eyes that do not belong south of the Mason-Dixon Line, we became suspicious. Two people shot somebody near "Dallas," you say? Oh, Dallas, Penn. It's only 72 degrees outside you say? Oh, somewhere else. Wait, this isn't WESH! It's some monster called WBRE that blasts from the hustle and bustle of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (that's where our parent company, Times Shamrock, is! We're being watched!) Turns out that, after weeks of alleged negotiations, Bright House shut out the lights on Sugalski and Co., rendering the popular local NBC affiliate WESH completely irrelevant (unless you have Dish or U-Verse, really, or a digital antenna, old lady). Here's the statement from WESH's sad old website.
Update as of July 10, 2012:WESH/WKCF's carriage agreement with Bright House expired at 11:59 pm on July 9. Unfortunately, notwithstanding our best efforts to reach a new carriage agreement, we were unable to do so. As a result, unless there is a change in Bright House's position, carriage of WESH/WKCF will no longer be available to you on Bright House systems.
We cannot predict if or when discussions with Bright House will resume or if or when WESH/WKCF's programming will be restored on Bright House systems.
