More love for Terri Binion, no love for our elections process

Letters to the editor and reader comments

Love for Terri

This is such an important, informative article (“Long way back,” Nov. 5). Terri [Binion] is a wonderfully talented singer-songwriter and I have been very fortunate to have enjoyed spending time with her. I hope she finds the peace she deserves.

Terri, my heart just aches for you and all you’re going through. I’ve been honored to know you and enjoy your sweet soul and beautiful music for such a long time. Thank you for speaking out against this brutal inequality. My sincere hope is justice – or karma – will be served. Be at peace my friend. You are a light in the world.

Proud of you, Terri, for this article and for your grace under pressure for the last three years.

My only hope is that the injustice in our world must end with life on it. I just can’t imagine that this is it. The more we see it, the more I can’t believe that our lives are not meant for a more blessed place to permeate our one-of-a-kind existence.

The blame game

Seventy percent of the voters turned out at the Country Club of Orlando Precinct (“Why don’t people vote on Election Day?” Nov. 5, Bloggytown); 25 percent of the voters turned out at a poor black precinct at I-4 and the [Orange Blossom] Trail. Want more proof of problems in our voting process? Want more evidence of how rich powerful people know what poor put-upon people do not? Your vote is POWERFUL. But ONGOING ENGAGEMENT is even more powerful.
