Florida Rep. Geraldine Thompson is hosting an election reform town hall in Windermere tomorrow

Florida Rep. Geraldine Thompson will be hosting a town hall in Windermere tomorrow night to go over current laws in preparation for the upcoming 2020 elections.

The town hall will be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Windermere High School, 5523 Winter Garden Vineland Road.

The town hall comes months after the recent passing of Amendment 4, which restored the voting rights of non-violent felons, and the various recounts during the 2018 midterm elections.

Thompson, D-Orlando, plans to discuss several topics, including accepting absentee ballots postmarked by Election Day; allowing same day registration and voting on Election Day; and requiring training in hand-writing analysis before ballots are rejected because of signature mismatches.

Thompson will be joined by Orange County Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles and Lake County Supervisor of Elections Alan Hays, as well as representatives from the League of Women Voters of Florida.
