A Florida man was bitten by an  alligator Friday afternoon while carrying out arguably the most dangerous job in golf, diving for used balls.

According to WTLV, the incident happened at approximately 1 p.m. Friday, July 7, at the Rotonda Golf & Country Club, just northwest of Fort Myers.

The victim, who was unnamed, was able to able to free himself from the gator and call 911. He was then flown to Lee Memorial Hospital to treat injuries on his left arm.

Besides fighting off the occasional gator, golf ball divers also have to deal with polluted waters, snapping turtles, and poisonous snakes.

It's an incredibly thankless job.
