Authorities stopped a Florida man driving around with an illegally poached gator foot stuck in his dashboard—something even they don't see everyday.

On Monday morning, the FWC posted that two of its officers, Luis Merizio and Casey Schroer, stopped a truck at Corbett Wildlife Management Area to check its day-use pass, but instead found many gator parts scattered throughout the vehicle.

The truck owner claimed that the parts came from a gator he hunted years ago, but the officers could tell from the smell that the gator died just days prior, according to the FWC post.

The man eventually confessed to hunting the gator without a permit a few days ago, and so the officers issued a citation.
