It seems like just yesterday that
Blue Bird Bake Shop opened its doors in the Audubon Park Garden District and changed Orlando's cupcake game forever (after being the
dessert du jour at
Pom Pom's Teahouse & Sandwicheria for a couple of years prior, and they're still on the menu).
But alas, it's been five glorious years since the High Hat, the Neapolitan, the Upside-Down and what's arguably the best strawberry buttercream frosting known to man waltzed into our sugar-laden lives. The shop is celebrating the anniversary of its opening with $2 cupcakes, a bunch of new flavors, and other specials and surprises tomorrow, Saturday, July 25, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Want a free one? Wear a top hat (the mascot's signature accessory) or your Blue Bird Bake Shop T-shirt and you'll get a free cupcake of your choice. We'll be there stocking up on salted-caramel brownies.
