The 14th Annual Orlando Japan Festival offers a variety of performances and vendor booths for maximum entertainment and cultural appreciation. Local vendors sell authentic Japanese clothing alongside cooking demos, live folk music and an authentic tea ceremony – all while you enjoy all the sushi, sashimi and tempura your little heart desires. Listen to the beat of taiko drums and watch traditional dancing while you covet the lovely kimonos. If you missed your chance to dress up as your favorite fictional character for Halloween, there will be a cosplay contest, so all you Dragon Ball Z and Hello Kitty fans, now’s the time to shine. The festival not only benefits the local community, but also plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Japanese earthquake relief effort. – Lea Phillips
