Aimed firmly at the Wine X www.winexwired.com magazine crowd (the kind of publication that has a column called "The Wine Bitch"), the Wine Brats call themselves "an active group of adult wine enthusiasts who are mostly young in age but absolutely young at heart."
They claim 47,000 oenophiles with attitude in 32 cities, and get together to learn about wine without climbing up a snooty ivory tower.
Da Brats sponsor tasting events that, for a reasonable cost, let you try wines and appetizers; the area chapter's first is at the downtown Sam Snead's Tavern (301 E. Pine St.) on June 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.
