M Lounge looks to open end of May, Kappo makes a comeback with the opening of Kadence, and more in local foodie news

M Lounge
M Lounge

Kadence, the new sushi joint from the trio behind the now-closed Kappo, will open this summer in Audubon Park. Instead of being a 20-seat restaurant split into two distinct sections as we reported last summer, it will seat just 9 people for sushi omakase when it opens. Plans still call for future seating in the back for Kappo-style omakase dinners. Kadence will also open for breakfast, serving Lineage coffee and fresh pastries by Jennifer Banagale.

OPENINGS

Buda Libre, by Iron Chef contestant Roberto Treviño, will open in the Maddey's Craft & Cru space on Church Street this summer. The restaurant will specialize in Latin-Asian fusion and will have a "great bar program" to go along with "attractive food with lots of 'flash'" ... M Lounge, the upscale rooftop bar in Ivanhoe Village, is aiming to open the second week of May ... Culvers, known for their signature "ButterBurgers," will open in Casselberry mid-May ... Rock & Brews has opened in Lee Vista ... Look for Habit Burger and Café Rio to open in the Whole Foods Plaza on 17-92 later this year ... Olde Dixie Fried Chicken has purchased a food truck and plans to be up and running mid-June.

The Fresh Market in Altamonte Springs will shutter May 3 ... On Park Avenue, Paris Bistro has closed; look for Laurel Latin to take its place.
