After dishing out more than 2,000 pounds of cookies and cake slices in less than one month, Gideon's Bakehouse at East End Market is closing Aug. 20.

Seems they've been so successful (no surprise — those chocolate chip cookies are just plain ridiculous) that business has become unsustainable in their current block at the Audubon Park market. So they're closing down in order to rebuild the space to their liking.

Gideon's owner, Steve Lewis, is projecting a 30-day top-to-bottom renovation which will allow for more baked yum-yums as well as new items like homemade ice cream and peanut butter iced coffee.

A "cookie bar" with additional seating will be part of the new space as well.

If you're fearing a Gideon's withdrawal while they renovate, fear not. You'll be able to order those crazy cookies online for pickup at the East End Market very soon.

Follow Gideon's on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
