Food Network show 'Eat St.' filming at Orlando Weekly!

Local food blog Eat More of It caught this picture of me being filmed by Eat St. in 2011. Visit their blog to learn even more about this year's Eat St. filming in Orlando! (photo by Josh Murdock) Eat St., the Cooking Channel/Food Network show all about food trucks, is back in Orlando. They've been filming our favorite trucks all around town this week, and tomorrow we're thrilled that they will film Curbside Chef in the Orlando Weekly parking lot. Please join us! The Canadian team behind Eat St. first hit our town back in 2011, when they taped a segment at the Lake Lily Maitland food-truck pod. The featured trucks on that show were Yum Yum Cupcakes, the Crooked Spoon, and Big Wheel Mobile. Here's a clip (which includes me saying something about how Big Wheel chef Tony Adams "tends to take things above the simple," whatever that means): A lot has changed on the food truck scene since 2011. Yum Yum is still going strong, but the Crooked Spoon is now a gastropub in Clermont (linked above), and Tony Adams left Orlando last year. (But SPOILER ALERT: He's back! Details to come in my next post, let a girl catch her breath, jeez.) Mark Baratelli's Food Truck Bazaars, sited in locations throughout the area, have grown exponentially. The monthly Food Truck Bazaar is now a fixture in Orlando and outlying cities, as are numerous weekly neighborhood truck meet-ups. The Eat Stepisode filming this week, titled "Flavours of Florida" (toldja: Canadian), covers Orlando-area trucks Bem Bom, Sushi & Seoul on the Roll, SwedeDish, Treehouse Truck, Cafe Rouge Express and Curbside Chef. Read reviews of many of these trucks in our 2012 feature, "Meals on Wheels" — an adventure we are clearly overdue to repeat. Curbside Chef is a husband-and-wife team specializing in classic street food with big flavors, executed with fresh, local, organic products wherever available (and veggies grown aquaponically in their own back yard!). The menu ranges from comfort food like tacos, sliders and nachos to higher-end fare like sushi, mussels and banana-leaf-steamed tilapia, but the clear fan favorite is their goat-cheese ravioli in tomato nectar. Better get in line early, or they might run out!
