This morning (Jan. 23, 2014), Universal Orlando held a webcast to reveal more details of Diagon Alley, the new expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening at Universal Studios Florida this summer. I'll have a full breakdown of the revealed information -- and a peek into secrets yet to be revealed -- in next week's Live Active Cultures. For now, here are some highlights from the event:

  • The major "multi-sensory, multi-dimensional" ride will be called Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.
  • A park-to-park ticket will be required to board the Hogwarts Express and travel between Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure.
  • Shops will include Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment, Scribbler's, Magical Menagerie, and Quality Quidditch Supplies
  • Borgin and Burkes will be a shop in Diagon Alley's "dark, scary" Knockturn Alley section.
  • The fire breathing dragon that escaped Gringotts in Deathly Hallows will be perched atop the bank.

Visit Universal's new Harry Potter website for further information. And follow skubersky on Twitter this weekend for live reporting from the Celebration of Harry Potter event, and come back for more Diagon Alley details soon!
