An unpublicized, last-minute art show at AKA Lounge was a highlight of last week's Third Thursday in downtown Orlando. A handful of locals are thrown into the mix, but paintings by Morgan Steele (colorful yet dark and intricate) and Susan Elizabeth (light, airy and full of womanhood) stood out in the nightclub's lighted gallery area.

Steele's pieces — including an exquisitely detailed "Dead on the Air," his ode to the end of analog TV — were red-markered down to an average $50-$100. They were getting scooped up by art lovers who couldn't help but act on the temptation of the price. Curator Christopher M. W. Johnson says that as pieces get sold, the prolific Steele will fill the holes with more of his creations. And Steele finally has a website for virtual shopping: www.artbymorgansteele.com
