Orlando’s dormant professional hockey team, the Solar Bears, will be back in action this fall, calling Amway Center home. The team is currently looking for faces for their upcoming advertising campaign titled “I am a Solar Bear.” Twelve winners will be selected and featured on billboards, in-arena promo at Amway Center and on the web. One grand-prize winner will appear in the Orlando Sentinel and Orlando Magazine as well as venue advertising like the Amway jumbotron and other Solar Bears materials. Adults, kids (above the age of four) and models (per the press release) are encouraged to try out. (Yes, it could be you!)
To register, applicants should visit the team’s website and bring the signed forms to the RDV Sportsplex on Monday, April 2. The first 300 participants to arrive at the event will be admitted for the initial round of photographs. And remember to dress appropriately (it’s a chilly 45 degrees inside the Sportsplex).
The Solar Bears’ season begins in October, where they will compete in the ECHL with teams like the Kalamazoo Wings and the Elmira Jackals. Season tickets include 36 regular-season home games and the first four home playoff games and range from $380-$1,480. For more information on tickets and the season schedule, visit the Orlando Solar Bears website.
