Ticked off

For those gathered in Lake Eola Park on the recent New Year's Eve, the digital "millennium clock" on the lake's south side was the focal point of the midnight countdown. For others, it's a colossal eyesore and another civic advertisement for Disney World, which helped fund the ticker's placement and uses it to promote shows in the park by acts affiliated with Epcot's millennium marketing blitz. But get used to it: Recently reset, the clock is now counting down to Dec. 31, 2000 -- the real end of the millennium.
