Mia's Italian Kitchen is coming to I-Drive, Jam-Eng to downtown and more in Orlando foodie news

OPENINGS: Jam-Eng, a "jazzy island restaurant" serving both Jamaican and English fare will open downtown at the corner of North Orange Avenue and Washington Street later this month ... Tin & Taco will move into the space recently vacated by the Pie in College Park in mid-June. This will be the third Tin & Taco in the city ... Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine has opened at the Hamlin Town Center in Winter Garden ... The Embassy Irish Bar has opened downtown on South Orange Avenue and Central Boulevard ... Mia's Italian Kitchen, featuring house-made pasta and grandma pies, will open this month at 8717 International Drive.

NEWS: Last week, we put the item "Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen in College Park won't renew their lease when it comes up in October. A new location will be announced soon, but the new Outpost won't be in College Park" in our Closings section. Apologies to anyone who was confused, so let us rephrase that: The College Park location of the Outpost is closing, but the restaurant plans to open elsewhere ... Lotus Asia House is offering a "Dim Sum and Then Sum" happy hour every day from 5-7 p.m. with discounted craft cocktails and Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai-inspired dishes.

EVENTS: Chef Jamie McFadden of Cuisiniers Catered Cuisine is staging a pop-up at East End Market Friday, April 12, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. featuring a hodgepodge of healthy bowls for just $5. Pop over to eastendmkt.com to pre-order your bowl ... A few $35 tickets remain for Poutine Palooza Part Trois, hosted by yours truly and featuring dishes by Camilo Velasco (Ravenous Pig), Wendy Lopez (Reyes Mezcaleria) and Chau Trinh (Sushi Pop) as well as bites from Gezellig Cookies, Valkyrie Doughnuts, La Femme du Fromage and Canadian bevs from Digress Wine. The event is Sunday, April 14, from 3-6 p.m. at East End Market ... The Adult Literacy League's 12th annual Reading Between the Wines event goes from 6-9 p.m. April 17 at the Orlando Science Center. Pulitzer-Prize winning author Gilbert King will headline the event and food will be provided by Swine & Sons, 4Rivers Cantina Barbacoa, The Palm, Raglan Road, Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' Kitchen and more. Cost is $99. Go to adultliteracyleague.org for tix ... The Science of Wine event is April 27 at the Orlando Science Center. More than 150 wines and bites from 30 area restaurants will be featured. Cost is $125 ... Dates for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival have been announced – Aug. 29 to Nov. 23. That's a record 87 days.
