I know, I know, you're thinking, "Is there really a food holiday for every day of the week?" The answer: Yes, yes there is.

Today, July 7, is National Strawberry Sundae Day, so we'd encourage you on this 98-degree heat (cue the Nick Lachey crooning), to get out to one of these spots you might not have tried before and get yourself a couple of drippy scoops of vanilla ice cream and top them with some fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce and whipped cream.

Every day of the week, you can walk up to the counter at this produce and meat marketplace and score some vanilla soft serve ice cream topped with fresh Driscoll's strawberries for just a buck-49.

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers
3200 S. Orange Ave.

We don't have a lot of frozen custard here in town (the real difference is that frozen custard contains egg yolks for a richer texture), so now that Freddy's is open on South Orange, the creamy treat has officially arrived in the City Beautiful. Order your vanilla custard topped with strawberries and strawberry sauce.

Chocolate-covered strawberries aren't just for romantic trysts in darkened hotel rooms. The Strawberry Almond Dazzler sundae at the Haagen-Dazs chain is almost everything you could ask for — strawberry ice cream, hot fudge, sliced almonds and whipped cream. Anyone else getting all hot and bothered?
