Olivia Rodrigo dazzled during 'Guts' tour stop in Orlando

“Obsessed” is an understatement.

Olivia Rodrigo might just be the epitome of the “teenage dream.” The freshly 21-year-old pop star has a powerhouse voice with a rock & roll attitude. On Monday, Rodrigo performed on her first arena tour at Orlando's Kia Center with opener Chappell Roan. Her Guts World Tour appearance was long-awaited for many fans who have loved the star ever since her debut album Sour but weren’t able to see her on her first tour — which had no Florida dates.

Chappell Roan, a queer pop powerhouse with more than a few guest vocals on  Rodrigo’s tracks, got the energy up in the arena with her upbeat songs and the YMCA-esque dance to "HOT TO GO!" that the crowd followed along with.

Very early in her set, Rodrigo played the big hit — "Vampire" — bad idea, right? (Not a bad idea at all, as it turned out.) Didn't matter, she had plenty of anthems up her sleeve. The singer performed all but two songs from Guts and Sour, starting with her newest hits from Guts and then the song that started it all: "Drivers License."

Rodrigo’s background in acting showed in the theatricality in every moment of her performance, with electric facial expressions and emotive choreography from both her and her dancers. She has both the charisma and grunginess that only a former Disney star could muster.

Rodrigo connected with the audience throughout the show, especially when she traveled around the entire arena on a floating moon and waved to fans throughout the arena during the ballads “Logical” and “Enough for You.”

The Guts World Tour is establishing Rodrigo as the young phenom she truly is. She exhibited a stylistic range that not many performers in her generation have shown. She proved herself as multitalented and has shown impressive creative growth since her debut tour with both her vocal range and onstage confidence.

Proceeds from every ticket sold on the tour went to the singer's new Fund 4 Good initiative, supporting community nonprofits that work toward girls’ education, reproductive rights and preventing gender-based violence.
