"Today, Jim Greer, the man Charlie Crist personally picked to lead the Republican Party of Florida, admitted his guilt to five felony charges. For the past three years, Jim Greer has tried to damage the reputation of the Republican Party and its leaders, but the truth is now known that Jim Greer broke the law, stole from RPOF and our donors, and then said and did everything he could to cover up and distract attention from his crimes. Everything Jim Greer has said and done over these past few years should be considered in that light."
Yeah, maybe that's part of the truth. Greer already admitted, with all due crocodile tears, to the Miami New Times that he was a horrible man and the he and his wife are suffering greatly beneath his insolence. But he also seemed like he would go down kicking and screaming, tossing out allegations of sex and drinks and money all the way to the pokey. So, why the change of heart? Family, obviously. But that excuse isn't sitting well with local Democrats, many of whom woke up to shine their schadenfreude glasses and watch the opposing party unravel. So, all these years of allegations that are transparently true don't matter? How can that be?
"I'm disappointed the public will never get to hear from the witnesses under oath regarding the abuse of credit cards, wild trips to the Bahamas and personal vendettas," says Orange County Democratic Executive Chairman (and tax collector) Scott Randolph in a text. "Somehow, I think Mr. Greer will be well taken care of by the RPOF for not exposing their underbelly."
"Importantly, what will happen to the police report that has been under seal and kept away from the public's knowledge," Randolph continues. "The public has a right to know what elected officials were doing that would warrant a police report."
In other words, expect more suspicion and hopefully more illumination as we inch closer to the March 27 sentencing. Hookers, blow, to fade.
