Anyone with a conscience knows you can't just toss old TVs and computers, in the trash, but who has time to drive to the landfill to dispose of them properly? Before that teetering stack of old fax machines, printer/copiers, VCRs, cathode-ray tube monitors and so on falls over and suffocates you, pile it all up and take it to Orlando Festival Park this Saturday, Feb. 24.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. city workers will help unload your old electronics and take it all away for recycling.
If you can't make it to Festival Park on Saturday, the standard procedure for getting rid of old electronics is as follows, according to cityoforlando.net:
How can I dispose of electronic equipment?
Household electronics include computers, TVs, VCRs, fax machines, CD players and stereos. The Orange County Landfill accepts these items at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, Monday through Sunday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. You can also take them to the L.B. McLeod Road Transfer Station on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. This free service is available to eligible Orange County (and City of Orlando) residents. Proof of residency is required. An attendant is present at the facility to assist with unloading.
