The Florida Independent is posting today that there have been reports of a new oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico, near BP's Maconda oil well. Aljazeera English has a more detailed report on recent appearances of oil slicks and sheens turning up in the Gulf today, as well. So far, nobody else seems to be reporting news of potential new oil spills in the Gulf, but the Miami Herald says today that erosion from tropical storm Lee has exposed old oil from last year's massive spill and is causing tarballs to wash up on Louisiana beaches.
