For the first time since it was built seven decades ago, Florida’s only home designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright has hit the market.

The Spring House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a longtime subject of preservation efforts, is located in Tallahassee at 3117 Okeeheepkee Road. The pod-shaped curved home was built in 1954, just five years before Wright’s Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

The home was designed for the Lewis family of the historic Lewis State Bank.

The current owner Byrd Mashburn, daughter of late Clifton Lewis and George Lewis II, has decided to sell the residence because “it’s just the right time,” The Tallahassee Democrat reports.

The house has been cared for by the Spring House Institute, which has worked to maintain and restore the home, Wright’s only privately owned creation in the state, as years of wear from the elements, hurricane damage and an overall lack of funds for repairs have contributed to its deterioration.

The home was featured in 2014 in the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of “America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.”

Perched on a 10-acre plot of land, the house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a total 2,040 square feet of living space. It’s filled with an abundance of natural light and Wright’s signature curves both inside and out.

The Spring House is currently priced at $2,128,000 and the sale is being handled by Brian Proctor with NAI TALCOR.
