The historic home of citrus tycoon Dr. Phillips’ son is now on the market in Daytona Beach

The home that once belonged to the son of Florida orange grove owner and renowned philanthropist Dr. Phillips is now on the market in Daytona Beach.

Located at 2737 S Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach Shores, the home was originally built in 1947 and housed the son of Philip Phillips, honored by both Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and the unincorporated Orange County area known as Dr. Phillips.

Dr. Phillips was widely known for his influential work in Florida's citrus industry — he sold his citrus holdings to Granada Groves and Minute Maid in 1954, largely believed to be the largest transaction in the history of citrus. Besides his spot in the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame, Phillips' legacy also lives on in the charitable contributions he made throughout his life.

When he died in 1959, Phillips' business was passed down to his son Howard.

The historic Art Deco-style home sits on 175 feet of Daytona beachfront and comes with four bedrooms and four baths, totaling 1,359 square feet. The house is currently listed for $2,920,000 and is being handled by Carla Stanton with Mainframe Real Estate.
