Photos: Disney shares a first look at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure food, merch and Critter Co-Op

With Tiana’s Bayou Adventure just weeks from opening, Disney World shared a first look at all the new food items and merchandise coming to Magic Kingdom.

First is the food, which is integral to the story of Tiana’s, the movie it’s based on — 2009’s The Princess and the Frog — and New Orleans culture.

In Magic Kingdom, Golden Oak Outpost, Pinocchio Village Haus, the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, the Plaza Restaurant, the Friar’s Nook and Main Street Confectionery will all have new items and returning favorites beginning on June 28.

There’s no popcorn bucket (yet) but there is a new sipper featuring Princess Tiana, Louis the alligator and a fun swirling straw. You can find those at the Friar’s Nook and outdoor snack spots near Cinderella Castle.

Golden Oak Outpost

Critter Co-Op

Also opening with the ride in Frontierland is Critter Co-Op. The gift shop will offer new collections for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and The Princess and the Frog, including T-shirts, bucket hats, Mickey ear headbands, toys and accessories for kids and adults.

There will be new and exclusive Loungefly bags and Spirit Jerseys, of course, and collectible figurines and critter plushes. The shop’s Tiana’s Foods treat collection will include bananas foster chocolate bars, festive Mardi Gras Melody popcorn and Mama Odie’s roasted pepper hot sauce.

It wouldn’t be a new Disney attraction without a new high-tech toy. The Critter Co-Op will be the place to snag an Interactive Firefly, inspired by the glowing insects from the movie. These fireflies can sit on your shoulder and will light up and interact with other fireflies when they see each other.

Disney World will also be the first place outside New Orleans to have a selection of Dooky Chase’s Restaurant spices for purchase. The Princess and the Frog famously took inspiration from legendary restaurateur Leah Chase when creating Tiana. The spices available include fried chicken seasoning, seafood seasoning, gumbo base and meat seasoning.

The new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and The Princess and the Frog collections will be available starting June 28 at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom. The Critter Co-Op will open “shortly after the attraction debuts,” according to Disney.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on June 28, transforming what used to be Splash Mountain into a celebration of New Orleans and African American history, food and culture.
