As the spooky season creeps on, Universal Orlando has released a chilling treat: a first look at a spine-chilling ride set to haunt the heart of Dark Universe, the monstrous portion of new theme park Epic Universe.
Fourteen of the classic Universal monsters will be brought to life in “Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment” in the Dark Universe world of Epic Universe, which debuts in May 2025. Deep within the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor, guests will have the opportunity to come face-to-face with some of the most ambitious and life-like animated figures ever created on this ride, Universal says.
The ride will begin as Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, the great-great-granddaughter of Henry Frankenstein, conducts her eerie experiments on menacing creatures, inviting riders to watch. Demonstrations of her misguided ability to control them goes scarily wrong, as the enraged monsters are released from captivity.
Guests will then be forced to embark on a terrifying escape route through the pitch-black mansion to try to evade Dracula, the Wolf Man, Frankenstein’s monster, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and more. Adventurers not ready to face the fearsome monsters in these attractions will still have the opportunity to meet and take photos with some of the creatures as they explore Dark Universe.
Epic Universe is set to open May 22, 2025. The sprawling new park will consist of five different worlds — themed after How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter, classic Nintendo characters and more — that include various themed rides and restaurants. A preview center of the park is currently on display at Universal CityWalk.
Multi-day tickets with one-day admission to Epic Universe are on sale now, along with vacation packages and hotel reservations. For more information about Universal Epic Universe or to keep up with further reveals about the park, visit Universal Orlando’s website.
