Disney should know by now that it’s impossible to overestimate how long obsessives will wait for a new tchotchke. They made the decision to release a new popcorn bucket in the shape of EPCOT mascot Figment at just one pop-up location this weekend and festivalgoers lined up in a queue that reportedly stretched across the park before doubling back on itself.
The wait times for Pop Eats!, the location that sold the buckets, was reportedly as long as 7 hours. Fans with the good sense to stay out of the park on opening day of the festival were rewarded with a healthy dose of schadenfreude and they spilled their thoughts all over social media.
For the record, wait times fell to a healthy hour and a half over the weekend as the rainbow popcorn that came with Figment is dwindled. The bucket has completely sold out as of this writing.
