Fresh off delivering head-turning inspiration to thousands in the Coachella Valley, Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat luminary Fela Kuti, paid a visit to the Beacham to continue the familial legacy of inspiring positivity through sound and messaging with his band, Egypt 80. Kuti has been playing music with ever-evolving collective since he was 8 years old, and now he leads the ensemble.
Although Kuti states his music isn’t solely created for escapism, the lucky Central Floridians who were tipped off on the quick visit showed up to disconnect from our modern social and political chaos, to simply unite for a couple of hours to dance and share fervent smiles.
To say it was a vibe is an understatement. It was a holistic experience. If you saw someone sitting, they were just trying to catch their breath for a second.
Orlando: Don’t sleep on Seun Kuti again. Therapy is a lot more expensive.
