After a tumultuous year of business struggles, Ivanhoe Village’s popular eatery and catering company Hammered Lamb announced it will close its doors for good.
In a social media post shared Monday, the longstanding brunch restaurant and drag hub shared plans for its final day of service on Saturday, Jan. 25. The day will serve as both a 12-year anniversary celebration and a goodbye party.
Saturday’s brunch happens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a Sunset Happy Hour and final farewell.
The closure comes after the eatery pleaded for community support amid financial hardship in September. Owner Jason Lambert announced the bar and restaurant would close on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, its two slowest days of the week. An online fundraiser was launched to help offset costs.
The business took a hit early last year when the Orlando Sentinel incorrectly reported that the Hammered Lamb was the subject of an unfavorable health inspection report in April. Lambert noted a decline in business as a result.
All the while, the restaurant had continued to face loss of business due to Ivanhoe Village’s massive ongoing infrastructure project.
“The timing was just really bad, too,” Lambert told the Sentinel at the time. “That was just like the stab in the back.”
In Monday’s post, the restaurant urges community members to visit and support the staff this week leading up to its last day for lunch, happy hour and late night service. The Hammered Lamb will be open for regular business hours and closed Tuesday.
“Being a part of this community has been the greatest gift and to the everyone who has passed through these doors to support our dream — thank you so much! To the people who have worked with us and made this place a home for so many — without you, this wouldn’t have existed. We’re grateful for every single one of you and the heart you’ve poured into The Lamb over the years,” the post reads.
The Hammered Lamb, known for its loaded brunch dishes, drink deals and regular drag brunch shows, opened its doors in Ivanhoe Park in 2013.
