We loved them. We miss them. But in the end, it wasn’t enough to save these Orlando area restaurants from the brutal margins and sudden setbacks that are endemic in the restaurant space.

Cafe de France

Cafe de France opened shop in 1982, making memories for many locals for over 30 years. When the restaurant was open, it served iconic French cuisine such as escargots, steak tartare, and coq au vin. Belanger Bagels 4339 Edgewater Dr, Orlando, FL 32804 This is now being replaced with Jeff’s bagel run’s second location, where now it will have the best New York bagels around. Sadly, the owner of the bagel shop was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They decided to close the doors to have a head start to beat the disease. Betyi Mediterranean Grill 870 FL-436, Casselberry, FL 32707 Betyi was a spot to enjoy Turkish classics such as babaganoush, tabouli and gyros. After the owner started serving guests in the old Rolando’s Cuban Restaurant it is a shame this place will close again. Bubbalou’s 1701 Rock Springs Rd, Apopka, FL 32712 Bubbalou’s has been serving in Orlando since 1986, it is a shame that one of their locations closed. Nonetheless, items such as their smoke ribs, gator nuggets and the big pig live on in two other locations. F&D Woodfired Kitchen 2635 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando, FL 32806 Named one of the hottest restaurants in Orlando in 2019, this local chain closed one of its three locations recently. Fuddruckers 2300 E Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32704; 4311 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32803 The self-proclaimed place for the ‘world’s greatest hamburgers’ closed their two locations in Orlando.. Now there are a total of 5 in The Sunshine State, all closely together in South Florida . Humbl 1412 Alden Rd, Orlando, FL 32803 This was one of the spots to find 100% plant-based vegan friendly items. Celebrity chef Matthew Kenney brought vegan pizzas, nachos, burgers and ice cream. La Kuma Coffee 840 E State Rd 434, Longwood, FL 32750 The cute bear with a pipe was a distinguishable logo and will be a great loss to Longwood. Patrons used to be able to wake up and visit this spot to enjoy different types of coffees and caffeinated beverages in a bright aesthetically pleasing scenery. Proper & Wild 155 E Morse Blvd, Winter Park, FL 32789 Named best new restaurant in 2019, it is surprising to see its closure in 2022. Proper and Wild was a spot to enjoy juices, fresh foods and other vegan items. Jamie Savage was also the co-owner of this cafe, where 18 employees spoke against him and explained how he would touch them inappropriately and make offensive comments. Sourdough Bread House 5761 US Hwy 17/92 Suite OP 1021, Casselberry, FL 32707 No need to fear, Sourdough Bread House is temporarily closed, and they will be opening a new location soon. They are still taking cake and bread orders on their Instagram.
