With impressions so spot-on, you might not be able to tell the man behind the voice is acclaimed Nigerian comedian, actor and writer Godfrey. And he’s coming to Orlando for a four-show special on his most recent tour.
Godfrey’s career started in Chicago at the All Jokes Aside comedy club during the 1990s. The comedian then moved to New York, where he made the rounds at Comic Strip Live and Caroline’s on Broadway and began working in television. Godfrey has made special appearances in animated series, movies and game shows, including Zoolander, Soul Plane, The Mr. Men Show and Steven Universe. Godfrey’s stand-up features impersonations, storytelling and dissections of cultural stereotypes, exploring what it’s like to be Black in America.
In addition to stand-up, Godfrey regularly hosts a podcast called “In Godfrey We Trust,” which invites some of his friends and guests in the industry to talk about pop culture, current events and race. His latest comedy special, Rebel With a Cause, features bold and transparent storytelling and, yes, impersonations.
