Best French Restaurant Winner: Le Coq Au Vin* (closed May 2023) Runners-up: Chez Vincent, DoveCote Restaurant Credit: image via bistrolecoqauvin.com

Well, that was a short ride.

When Reimund Pitz, the esteemed chef-owner of longtime Orlando favorite Le Coq au Vin, took over the Bistro CloClo space in Dr. Phillips last October, the combo of Pitz’s know-how with the desirable Dr. Phillips location seemed like a sure winner (though the new name, Bistro Le Coq au Vin, was a bit of a mouthful).

But today Scott Joseph reports that the restaurant has officially closed, citing issues with the liquor license and noise complaints from nearby restaurants who objected to Sunday brunch’s live musicians.

As we reported in January, Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar co-founder Andy Pforzheimer is planning to open an outpost of sister resto Bartaco (a taqueria inspired by beach culture in Punta del Este, Uruguay, and Buzios, Brazil) next door. Construction continues; look for Bartaco to open late this summer.
